I feel like to some extent this blog is a big unfair to yourself (I am around 1950 FIDE so similar to you) and I feel like it's unfair to 1.play rapid + blitz games, 2. Play the opening + middlegame quite well whilst you still have time to think 3. Mess up under time trouble and lose 4. blame your "poor conversion" for these losses. While it may be true that your conversion isn't good, the bigger problem is probably the fast time control, if you play a classical tournament, you will have much more time, (with around 15-30 second increment per move) so I feel like your conversion would just naturally improve with more time no?

"I used to have this problem in classical and instead of fixing it I just got better. That sounds stupid, but is the truth, with time on the clock I'm able to more consistently figure out unobvious moves. As The Pattern shows, the problem still exists, it's just moved deeper into the game, much more prominent in shorter time controls, when I have less time."
I care about all formats, I can't find a classical tournament for every weekend, so sometimes I have to play rapid or blitz instead. This is also the only option to face top polish players
