Daniel Naroditsky's Mastering Complex Endgames republished

"I have the game in Karolyi's Endgame Virtuoso: Anatoly Karpov"

  • Many books written by fans are neither objective, nor accurate.
Likewise Chernev's comments on Capablanca's endgames are biased and often wrong.

This blog post did not make the "best" list on https://lichess.org/blog/community. I thought that I spent a non-trivial amount of effort on it - sufficient that it was suitable for that page. For example, I did a comparison of the annotations of the Karpov-Hort rook endgame between Danya's book, and Karolyi's "Endgame Virtuoso".

Can anyone explain what is wrong with it so I can write more successful posts in the future?

Yeah. I guess I'm being educated a little bit here!

At least Chernev had the defence that he was not a titled player, and did not have access to 21st century engines. Karolyi has neither defence.
