Frankly a lot of chess events, even top tier one, are just embarrassingly stiff. Just think of the awards ceremonies, or the interviews after matches with the awkward questions.
The idea to have some more side events sounds nice.
Some talks or personality events, Some workshops, some alternative chess types, casual events where you get to know people in a less competitive setting. E.g. drinks, snacks, music and bughouse.
Not all chess events need be like this, but certainly there is plenty of room for innovation and getting different types of people to try one out.
There is a Macy's. It's on the other side of the mall. We're in the basement next to a dance studio. I don't have numbers because I just play there, but I think having lots of parking, various stores, restaurants, and a food court, has helped attendance quite a bit compared to the prior places.
Bro even the page i made for a school proyect looked way better than that !!!
