Who do you think is the greatest chess player of all time?

Many may argue Magnus Carlsen, while others might say Vishy, Kasparov, Karpov, Tal, Fischer, etc. Who is your personal favorite chess player of all time, and why do you think so?

My favorite World Champion was Kasparov. I can't be too objective, as I grew up thinking that Kasparov was unbeatable in his prime (maybe there was a bit of hero-worship). I know he had lost games, but it seemed virtually impossible to take the championship from him. Anyway, I don't know who the best player is. Carlsen is an amazing player. I had hoped that he would defend the title for a bit longer, but it's not really my place to say...

The one who made the most progress by studying only their own games is obviously AlphaZero.
